Brother Eddie Tolan made history and broke barriers as a Black athlete. Today, his medals and a pair of his shoes are on display at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, and a field is named in his honor. His triumphs were never easy, especially when he returned to Detroit at the height of the Great Depression.
